$30 M FOR DORRIEN GARDENS REDEVELOPMENT

June 23, 2025

WA Italian Club (WAIC) and Perth Soccer Club (PSC) are delighted to welcome Thursday’s announcement in the 2025‑26 Western Australian State Budget, which allocates $30 million to support the creation of a vibrant Italian Precinct and the redevelopment of Dorrien Gardens in West Perth.

This significant government investment recognises the clubs’ bold vision to return Perth SC to its spiritual home, reconnecting two of WA’s most cherished community organisations. It underscores a shared commitment to honouring the enduring legacy of the Italo‑Australian community in Western Australia.

The funding will enable the delivery of the first stage of the redevelopment, including:

  • New and expanded WA Italian Club facilities — ballroom, function rooms, co-working space, kitchen, and bar.
  • A stunning Italian Piazza — a communal hub offering Italian-themed markets, hospitality, and cultural events.
  • A new 700-seat grandstand (eastern side), featuring modern corporate and VIP viewing linked directly to the WA Italian Club.
  • Construction of two full-sized pitches at Dorrien Gardens.
  • state-of-the-art gymnasium, training facilities, and change rooms.
  • Upgraded Azzurri Bocce Club competition venue.
  • new multi‑storey, 160‑bay public carpark beneath the precinct.

WA Italian Club President Sal Vallelonga commented:

“This place of significance, reflecting 235 years of Italian commitment to WA, has been long overdue. It will honour the enormous contribution Italian migrants and their descendants have made to this State.”

Perth Soccer Club President Jason Marocchi said:

“This funding enables us to bring Perth SC back home. Working together with WA Italian Club, we’ll build a sustainable future that honours the traditions and sacrifices of the Italian community and the significant role it has played in Western Australia.”

This is a landmark investment, signalling the State Government’s support for grassroots sport, cultural heritage, and community cohesion.

WA Italian Club and Perth SC look forward to continuing their strong partnership with the WA Government, the City of Vincent, the Italo-Australian Welfare & Cultural Centre and federal stakeholders to deliver this transformational project. Further updates on design, timelines, and community engagement will be shared in the coming months.
